Oklahoma State University Homecoming 2009 (The Game)

Homecoming here at Oklahoma State has been coined “America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration” and for good reason. Throughout this week the university does a really good job of building anticipation up to the biggest of all Homecoming festivities, the game. Watching the houses meticulously weld rebar onto structural piping, library lawn decorations, and the orange crush filled fountain is all well and good, but those things are nothing unless you top it all off with a mammoth tussle on the gridiron between two blood thirsty football teams.

Here is a little fun fact for you.  Oklahoma State has not beat Missouri at home since 1992. For the math challenged that was 17 years ago.  Can you believe we haven’t beat Missouri at home in 17 years? That is disgusting and tomorrow we need to help change that. Be loud, obnoxious, and barbaric when it comes to cheering. I want the Boone Bowl fans to start acting as dysfunctional as Oakland Raiders fans (just for one game).

Dysfunctional might be an understatement.
Before the game there are still Homecoming events going on. Don’t forget about Walkaround tonight, followed by Homecoming and Hoops in Gallagher Iba at 9. Tomorrow at 2 p.m. starting in downtown Thrillwater is the Sea of Orange parade featuring this years Grand Marshals Garth Brooks, Barry Sanders, and Robin Ventura.
The game starts at 8:15 at the Boone Bowl. Get there early because they are predicting a sellout crowd.

Oklahoma State University Homecoming 2009 (Walkaround)

The Walkaround is near. You should grab your coat, some friends and a root beer. I changed the last part so that I wouldn’t get in trouble with anyone. Anyway, the walkaround part of homecoming is this Friday. This is the time when we finally get to see what has been lurking inside those frat houses for so long. They usually are very impressive. Most of the frats team up with sororities and put on an awesome display of welding and pomping. The Beta house, however, doesn’t build a deck. They instead save up their money and bring in a pretty good band. This year they have Mae coming! If you don’t know who they are you should check them out!
Here is a few of the house-decks so far. We are gonna try to make a guess about what they will look like.  You guys can take a guess, too!  If we like your guess and time and distance allows, we will put you in our next video in some way.

Well those are our guess. We hope you enjoyed that section.

We also took a look at what Library Lawn had to offer. Turns out that they weren’t too shabby either. If you don’t believe us then just take a look.

Well that’s it for today. Tune in tomorrow. Maybe if we can over 200 hits on this, we will be able to talk Bryan into hopping in the orange fountain while wearing the wetsuit!

Great way to Start the Day

Tracy Morgan has written a book ladies and gentlemen.  This is the best news I’ve heard in a while, and I am ubber siked.  The book is a  memoir of Morgan’s entitled “Tracy Morgan: I Am the New Black”, and will be in stores October 20th.

Tracy Morgan was a member of the SNL for seven years. He performed a wide range of characters, but he was most known for the character “Brian Fellow”.  Tracy Morgan is currently featured on the very popular NBC show 30 Rock.

We will be back later today with some more Homecoming stuff!

Freshman 15lbs.

vI am going to take a quick break from homecoming festivities and talk to you about the freshman 15. Oklahoma has seemed to have skipped Fall and gone straight to Winter. I know what you’re thinking, it’s getting cold, I better put on my Winter weight. OK, that’s probably not what you think. Anyway, we have all seen the freshman 15 in a friend or two. Maybe you have even witnessed it on yourself. Never fear though. You aren’t the only one. Here are a few before and after pics that were posted on College Humor.

There is plenty more of this at College Humor. I myself was told by my Physician that I have been gaining weight. There are few ways to make sure you avoid these mean pounds. The first would be to cut out the fast food. Go ahead, eat your vegetables and fruits. They’re good and good for you. Try walking to class, if you live within a reasonable distance. Also, if you are enrolled at OSU they have a gym. I don’t know if you have heard of it but it’s called the Colvin. Go check it out! It’s pretty nice. Also, I wasn’t going to mention it but, beer does contain a lot of calories. I don’t want to be a buzz kill, literally. If you are going to drink, try getting the light beer. You could also avoid drinking on Tuesday nights. That one was to my upstairs neighbors. They like to throw parties every night. Anyway, I hope you all take this advantage to not gain those freshman 15.

Oh Peaches

I recently purchased a snuggie for myself and my girlfriend. One of the reasons I decided to purchase this snuggie was the included mini book light that came with the amazing snuggie. I just saw myself all nestled in my snuggie while I’m reading a book, in the dark, with the aide of my mini book light. Tonight was my first opprtunity with this, and all I can say is my bones ache with sadness. The mini book light is awful. It doesn’t help me see anything at all, and it is quite a bother to move it from one side of the book to another. I am pleased with the snuggie though. Whoever invented it gets a big pat on the back from me.

In other news I just purchased two train tickets to Chicago for a Christmas break vacation. Wahoo! I finally get to visit my favorite city in the nation that I have never been to. My girlfriends brother lives in Chi-town and we are going to be staying with him for a few days while we see the sites and eat hot dogs and pizza. Mmmmm!

Here is a piture of the awful mini book light at work.
